HM2014 – 22nd July

Well at first, I stopped writing the blog posts even though I was carrying on with my healthy mission, but that very quickly turned into not being healthy either. I had the wake up call I needed yesterday when I had to go to a client meeting with work for the first time in ages and I could hardly fasten the button on my trousers! 8 hours sat in a car (and 2 in a meeting) wearing trousers that didn’t really fit was not very comfortable, so...

HM2014 – 15th May

Well I reached over 11,000 steps yesterday, which is significantly higher than normal! Before work I went for a very sunny walk around Yeadon Tarn. At lunchtime, I went for a quick walk around the block, and then since I needed to make a call to my insurance company, I took my phone outside and paced up and down while I was on the phone for an extra 600 steps! After work I went straight up to Yeadon Tarn forĀ another walk around, and it was...

HM2014 – 14th May

Well it looks like the weather may finally have turned! I went for a quick ten minute walk around the block at lunchtime yesterday, after which it proceeded to rain torrentially all afternoon. But by the time I left the office and got to Golden Acre, it was glorious sunshine, and it made for a very pleasant walk! I’ve reached my step target of 7,500 per day both days this week, but unfortunately Cameron has done 10,000 each day, so I...

HM2014 – 13th May

Yesterday was not such a great day at work, but a great day diet-wise. My day started off with my usual walk around a very sunny Yeadon Tarn, which definitely woke me up! After having a meeting that ran halfway over lunch and then coming out of the meeting to torrential rain, I decided to skip the lunchtime walk in favour of being dry for the afternoon. So after work I went up to Golden Acre for my nightly walk. It stayed dry, but the grey...

HM2014 – 12th May

Well this weekend has been pretty quiet, but I haven’t been on my PC, hence why there hasn’t been a blog post. But don’t worry, I’ve been sticking to it. I woke up early on Saturday morning and took a walk into Pudsey to take my books back to the library, racking up 2000 steps before 9.30am. I then went to Wetherspoons for lunch with Cameron, where I ordered the veggie burger and switched the chips for a salad. We then...

HM2014 – 9th May

The rain made my walk last night very miserable. It poured down all the way around Golden Acre and I was soaked by the time I’d finished! But at least I got my steps in for the day! Today’s post is a tad late but it’s been a busy day! It was my workplace’s tenth birthday so we were taken out to a fish and chip restaurant for lunch. I actually stayed really good though, having steamed fish and a jacket potato, even...

HM2014 – 8th May

Damn the rain! It’s been so miserable here the last couple of days, although that didn’t stop me from getting all my walks in yesterday. I started the morning with a 7am walk around Yeadon Tarn, which was pretty peaceful. I then went out at lunch for a mile walk around the local park/housing estate. I must have been walking faster thanĀ I thought because when I got back to the office, not only was I soaked from the rain but I was...

HM2014 – 7th May

Well yesterday was my first ‘off-day’. Although saying that, according to Fitbit I was bang on target for calories, so I guess it wasn’t that off, but I’ll let you decide for yourself! The day was supposed to involve a trip into Leeds to walk around and do some shopping, but after spiralling up 18 floors of the multi-story car park and not finding a single space, we decided to drive to Manchester and go to the Trafford...

HM2014 – 6th May

Yesterday was the first day this week that I managed to get over 10,000 steps! To start the day, we went to Beningborough Hall, a National Trust property near York. Twinned with the National Portrait Gallery, they had an exhibition called Royals: Then and Now, with portraits from Charles I right up to cute Prince George. As well as walking around all three floors of the house, we also walked around the gardens and to the nearby farm shop, taking...

HM2014 – 5th May

Another good day yesterday, stuck to my food plan pretty well, shake for breakfast, a sunday dinner from Morrisons Cafe for lunch and a jacket potato and salad for tea, definitely under my calorie limit! Before tea, we went for a walk around Roundhay park, about 2.6km in total. It was a lovely walk, just late enough in the evening for the temperature to be cooling off and it got us about 4,500 extra steps for the day! It’s a bank holiday...

HM2014 – 4th May

Since everyone else is saying it, I might as well join in, so May the Fourth be with you! I did well yesterday. I’ve decided that I’m not going to be as strict with the ‘two shakes a day’ regime on a weekend because it’s not fair on Cameron if we can no longer eat out, so I’m just going to have the weekend as an eating healthy time, and have the shakes if I’m at home. So yesterday my day started off with...

HM2014 – 3rd May

Well yesterday was definitely not what I expected! I’d had a pretty good day at work, stuck to my food choices and everything and was just heading to the white rose centre for a hair cut and a walk to get my step count up. It was pretty bad traffic since it’s a bank holiday weekend and I was queuing down the hill when I heard two loud bangs and then all of a sudden my car was shunted forward. Turns out that a Volvo three cars back...

HM2014 – 1st May

Another day down, another day successful. I went for another walk around Golden Acre last night, although this time I was on my own and without Cameron. It was really nice to get in a good walk and just to sit outside in the fresh air in the peace and quiet and relax after a hard day at work. I admit, I did spend a little too long watching a family of little ducklings that were swimming around the lake. They seemed a little less shy than...

HM2014 – 30th April

Yesterday was another good day. I had a massive headache at work, but a walk around Golden Acre Park with Cameron in the evening pretty much cleared that up. I always seem to get headaches when I start to drink more water than usual, I don’t know if anyone else has that problem? Before we went on our walk, I’d already had my chocolate shake for tea, but Cameron hadn’t had anything to eat, so we stopped off at McDonalds on the...

HM2014 – 28th April

Well I kinda suck at this don’t I? I may as well have just not bothered at all at the start of the year since I’ve pretty much undone all my hard work, and probably some more. But I’m not going to mope on it, and instead I’m going to start kicking some ass again. I know it’s not the ideal thing to do, but to get myself kick-started again I’ve decided that for a while I’m going to start having meal...

HM2014: Day 23

Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. That’s all I hear while I’m walking, because my right shoe is starting to fall apart. And today it kind of hit the final straw while I was walking. I could feel it rubbing my foot as I was walking, but didn’t think anything of it until I got home and took my shoes and socks off and saw an angry red blister on the side of my big toe joint. I now can’t even put my...

HM2014: Day 22

So if you’re following my blog, you’ll probably notice there’s been a bit of a lull in these posts. I’ve been feeling absolutely awful these last couple of weeks, so I haven’t been blogging. I’ve been trying my best to stick to my diet, although it’s gone a bit quiet on the exercise front. I’m starting to feel better now, so I’m going out again for my nightly walks (with hopefully some...

HM2014: Day 5

I woke up this morning feeling even more rubbish than yesterday, so I knew I wouldn’t be doing my DVD. But I managed to stick to my diet plan, which is something of a success, so hopefully I will be feeling better tomorrow! Stats for today Calories eaten: 1,320 Calories burned: 2,793 Steps taken: 3,721 Active minutes: 6

HM2014: Day 4

Well today I went from feeling a little tickle in my nose when I woke up, to my nose running like a tap by dinnertime, and all my energy was gone. So today was an involuntary rest-day from Maracattack. I did, however, go for a walk at Brimham Rocks with Cameron, which I think probably burnt more calories that my Fitbit said, since we were scrambling up and over rocks and it was damn bloody cold! Stats for today Calories eaten: 1,468 Calories...

HM2014: Day 3

I was aching so much today that I was tempted to skip Maracattack. After all, I did walk more today than yesterday. But then I realised that was just an excuse that the old me would have made, so I sucked it up and put on the DVD. It felt horrible while I was doing it, but I felt much better when it was over, knowing that I’d done it. I walked more today than yesterday, although not as much as planned. We’d planned to take a trip up...

HM2014: Day 2

Day 2, complete! Maracattack was much harder today because my muscles were aching so much from yesterday, especially when it got to the abs section. The side planks are an absolute killer! But I made it through to the end again, kind of. Because the steps in the routine change so quickly, it’s hard to keep up with what you should be doing. And sometimes they don’t show Miranda’s modified version until you’re already...
