That’s gonna leave a mark…

My favourite baseball player Gordon Beckham got hit in the face last night by a relay throw in the game against the Blue Jays.

It looked really painful – the last I heard, his eye was working but he was going to hospital to check for fractures. Let’s hope he’s okay and he’ll be able to get back soon!

Sometimes, the answer is no

On the day that Brad Paisley’s new album has been released, I wanted to share my favourite Brad Paisley song – No. I love the words to this song. It is very easy to think that God isn’t listening if you are praying for something and it doesn’t seem like you get want you want, but God knows how your life should go, and sometimes, the answer is no. We just need to realise that this God has a plan, and everything will work out.

Make no mistake, every prayer you pray,
gets answered, even though,
sometimes, the answer is no.

When I think of all the answers in my life, I would have to say,
There’s no doubt it was always for the best,
When I didn’t get my way.

I know you want to stay in bed…

…but it’s light outside.

That’s right folks, Wakey!Wakey! are coming to the UK for two dates, and guess who’s going to see them in Nottingham? Very, very excited! Frank is coming with me, and it is his first gig, so it is going to be really fun. I ordered some new Wakey Wakey music a couple of nights ago (narrowly missing out on the last copy of ‘Silent as a Movie’), and I am really loving it. If you want to know more about Wakey!Wakey!, you can see their twitter page @WakeyWakey, or their website. Here’s the video for one of their songs: Light Outside

I have also been listening to a lot of Chris Young lately. Completely different to Wakey!Wakey!, as he is a very Country singer, but he has such a silky voice. He has a few songs (like Flowers or The Dashboard) which give me chills, the words are so lovely. He also has songs like Burn or That Makes Me, that I just can’t help singing along to. I have had a combination of his songs stuck in my head for the last two days, and I can’t wait for his new album to come out. You can find out more about Chris Young on his twitter page @ChrisYoungMusic, or on his website. Here is Chris’ latest video, for a very catchy song called Tomorrow.

The simple ones are the best

Sometimes, the simple songs are the best ones, and the ones that resonate the most. I downloaded an album called ‘How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites Live from the Grand Ole Opry‘ from iTunes, and this song is on it The version on the album is by Vince Gill, but there was no video for that on YouTube. I did find this version which is very similar. There are not many words to the song, and no extra bells and whistles, but they are just not needed. A quiet song for reflection and praying – one of my new favourites.

Jesus Take The Wheel

This is one of my favourite Carrie Underwood songs. I love the words to it. None of us can do this on our own, we need to give Jesus control and let him guide us to what is right.

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this on my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
Jesus take the wheel

The Way He Was Raised

When I first listened to this song, I was kind of half listening to the words thinking it was an okay song, then it got to the end and it hit me, all of a sudden it made sense. Now it’s one of my favourite songs, I just love the story and how it builds right to the end.

‘Cause that’s just the way He was raised
When people start to gossip, He’d just walk away
He always loved his neighbor no matter what they’d say
Oh, that’s just the way He was raised

Oh, that’s just the way He was raised
there’s no way we can measure
The sacrifice He made
He knew He had to die
For our debt to be paid
Oh, that’s just the way He was raised

Don’t Laugh at Me

I first heard this song on an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, when Mark Wills sung it to a little girl who had been burned really badly. I fell in love with the song and the words, it’s just beautiful. Here’s the lyrics to the chorus, and I’ve put the video below if you want to listen to it. Amazing.

Don’t laugh at me
Don’t call me names
Don’t get your pleasure from my pain
In God’s eyes we’re all the same
Someday we’ll all have perfect wings
Don’t laugh at me
