HM2014 – 5th May

Another good day yesterday, stuck to my food plan pretty well, shake for breakfast, a sunday dinner from Morrisons Cafe for lunch and a jacket potato and salad for tea, definitely under my calorie limit! Before tea, we went for a walk around Roundhay park, about 2.6km in total. It was a lovely walk, just late enough in the evening for the temperature to be cooling off and it got us about 4,500 extra steps for the day! It’s a bank holiday...

HM2014 – 4th May

Since everyone else is saying it, I might as well join in, so May the Fourth be with you! I did well yesterday. I’ve decided that I’m not going to be as strict with the ‘two shakes a day’ regime on a weekend because it’s not fair on Cameron if we can no longer eat out, so I’m just going to have the weekend as an eating healthy time, and have the shakes if I’m at home. So yesterday my day started off with...

HM2014 – 3rd May

Well yesterday was definitely not what I expected! I’d had a pretty good day at work, stuck to my food choices and everything and was just heading to the white rose centre for a hair cut and a walk to get my step count up. It was pretty bad traffic since it’s a bank holiday weekend and I was queuing down the hill when I heard two loud bangs and then all of a sudden my car was shunted forward. Turns out that a Volvo three cars back...

HM2014 – 2nd May

Yesterday didn’t involve another walk around Golden Acre Park, but instead I went shopping at the White Rose Centre with my best friend Abi. We actually did more walking than I would have done at Golden Acre though, we went in a lot of shops! Rather than doing what we would usually do and go out for dinner, which usually means at least 2 courses and a hell of a lot of calories, I had my shake before we went instead. I had to use my...

HM2014 – 1st May

Another day down, another day successful. I went for another walk around Golden Acre last night, although this time I was on my own and without Cameron. It was really nice to get in a good walk and just to sit outside in the fresh air in the peace and quiet and relax after a hard day at work. I admit, I did spend a little too long watching a family of little ducklings that were swimming around the lake. They seemed a little less shy than...

HM2014 – 30th April

Yesterday was another good day. I had a massive headache at work, but a walk around Golden Acre Park with Cameron in the evening pretty much cleared that up. I always seem to get headaches when I start to drink more water than usual, I don’t know if anyone else has that problem? Before we went on our walk, I’d already had my chocolate shake for tea, but Cameron hadn’t had anything to eat, so we stopped off at McDonalds on the...

HM2014 – 29th April

Well after one day, it seems to be going okay. I’ve realised that I definitely prefer the chocolate shakes to the vanilla ones, but I have three tubs of each so I’ll have to chop and change until they’re all finished – definitely chocolate all the way after that though! I expected to be hungry mid morning and late evening, but surprisingly I wasn’t, the shakes filled me up more than I thought they would! You may...

Recipe: Sausage and Vegetable Pasta Bake

If you’ve read my earlier post, you’ll know that I’ve decided that for the time being I’m going to have meal replacement shakes for breakfast and tea. Which means that I need something really tasty for lunch, and I didn’t really want anything processed. So I had a bit of a walk round Morrisons earlier and threw some stuff in my trolley with the idea of making a pasta bake. It turned out great, six portions of...

HM2014 – 28th April

Well I kinda suck at this don’t I? I may as well have just not bothered at all at the start of the year since I’ve pretty much undone all my hard work, and probably some more. But I’m not going to mope on it, and instead I’m going to start kicking some ass again. I know it’s not the ideal thing to do, but to get myself kick-started again I’ve decided that for a while I’m going to start having meal...

I joined the library!!

God knows why I didn’t do this before with the amount of books that I read, but this weekend I finally re-joined the library! I’d been a member since I was about 3 years old; so young that my library card had my mum’s signature on instead of mine! But when I was about 16, Leeds City Council introduced a Breeze card for young people and my library card was merged in with that. And since that expired when I was 19 years old, I...

I love you, Grandma

In a post last month, I alluded to some ‘personal problems’ that I’d been having and that I’d blog about it later. I’m not sure I’m quite ready yet, but I think I need to write about it, so here goes. My grandma passed away at the beginning of February. She’d been in a care home for a while after spending over a month in hospital at the end of last summer, suffering many strokes that left her completely...

Bowling and a Trip to the Tetley

We had the day off work today after staying out later for the gig last night, so we decided to make the most of it! First up was bowling at Hollywood Bowl in Kirkstall. Neither of us had been bowling for ages so it was lots of fun! Cameron tried to tell me he was rubbish at bowling, but he came back from setting the lane up, and he hadn’t put the gutter rails up for himself! Considering pretty much all of my balls would end up in the...

OneRepublic and Mikky Ekko at the O2 Academy, Leeds

Well for once it wasn’t me dragging Cameron to a gig, but Cameron taking me to see one of his favourite bands. We got there really early to try and make sure we got a seat (yes, we’re getting old), and it was a good job we did, because the queues were huge! When we got there, I’d forgotten I had left my tablet in my handbag, which led to a trip down to the cloakroom in the cellar to check my bag, which was quite convenient as...

Fun with Maestro at Golden Acre Park

The weather was so lovely when we got up this morning that we decided to take Maestro for a walk around Golden Acre Park. Unfortunately, a lot of people had the same idea, so it was extremely busy! The sun was rather deceptive as the place was still extremely muddy from all the rain recently, and as I was walking over the grass towards the lake, I ended up on my knees in the mud. I wish I could say that I had been pulled over by Maestro, but...

Nostell Priory

Since we just renewed our National Trust memberships, and it’s been a while since we went for a walk anywhere, we decided to stay close and go to Nostell Priory. We took a picnic with us which we ate in the car before our walk (still slightly too cold for eating outside!), then went for a walk around the lake at Nostell Priory. There’s a few different walking routes around the grounds, so we’ll probably go back and explore some...

Eric Church and The Cadillac Three at The Ritz, Manchester

For Christmas, Cameron bought me tickets to see Eric Church at the Ritz in Manchester. Since it had been a while since we went away anywhere, we decided to get a hotel in the centre of Manchester and have the weekend away. Living in England, there’s not much opportunity to see country music played live, so I was incredibly excited to see one of my favourites, Eric Church, live for the first time! I didn’t expect it to be too busy...

HM2014: Day 49

Well I didn’t want it to happen, but these last few weeks, I’ve been way off track. Things have been happening in my personal life that have made me comfort eat way more than I should, and I kinda gave up on going out for my evening walks in favour of lying in bed watching tv. I may write a blog about what happened when I’m not feeling so raw, but I made myself a promise this morning that I’m going to be good to myself...

HM2014: Day 23

Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. Squeak. Step. That’s all I hear while I’m walking, because my right shoe is starting to fall apart. And today it kind of hit the final straw while I was walking. I could feel it rubbing my foot as I was walking, but didn’t think anything of it until I got home and took my shoes and socks off and saw an angry red blister on the side of my big toe joint. I now can’t even put my...

HM2014: Day 22

So if you’re following my blog, you’ll probably notice there’s been a bit of a lull in these posts. I’ve been feeling absolutely awful these last couple of weeks, so I haven’t been blogging. I’ve been trying my best to stick to my diet, although it’s gone a bit quiet on the exercise front. I’m starting to feel better now, so I’m going out again for my nightly walks (with hopefully some...

HM2014: Day 8

Well I finally feel like I’m on the mend, so hopefully by the weekend I will be back on form. Busy day at work today so I didn’t have chance to get out at lunch for a walk. HM2014: Day 7

Eurghhh. Feeling rubbish again today, although I had to go back to work for meetings. My step count was slightly higher than yesterday, but I still felt too rubbish for pushing myself hard for an hour with my maracattack. I really hope I’m feeling better soon, or I’m going to go mad!
